Introduction

Scott Ramsay

Scott Ramsay

I was most fortunate to have won a competition being held by Cape Union Mart in conjunction with one of their ambassadors Scott Ramsay, a wildlife photographer and writer. Scott is currently  busy with his second year of his well documented project, Year in the Wild.

He will be travelling through South Africa from July 2013 until October 2014 and visiting well over 40, National and private protected areas in our beautiful country. He will give his personal feedback about the parks he visits as well as that of rangers and staff that he gets to spend time with in the reserves. This information will give travellers an insight into the parks and what they can expect, essential to planning, even before they begin.  This year he will also visit parks in countries bordering South Africa, namely Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Namibia.

As always, my goal is to inspire other Africans and foreigners to travel to these places, so that you too can be inspired. Maybe, after visiting these precious places, you will also be transformed a little, like I always am.” Scott Ramsay.

You can learn more about Scott Ramsay and his project by following his blog Year in the Wild as well as on his Facebook page.

I joined Scott Ramsay and a few other people; Christo (Contest winner) Pierre (Cape Union Mart) Pinkey (De Hoop Nature Reserve) our rangers from Umfolozi, Nunu and Nontobako we were also joined by two visitors from Australia, Bruce and Meghan.
